Mac Repair London carries out logic board repair on the MacBook Pro M4, M4 Pro & M4 Max from our London workshop, for home users and businesses.
The M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max boards carry the processor, unified memory and SSD together, with a lot of power circuitry packed around the chip. A fault there stops the whole Mac, and because the storage is encrypted by the chip, swapping the board would erase your data. We repair the original board at component level.
The faults we see most are in the MagSafe 3 and USB-C charging circuits and in power regulation, usually after liquid, a drop or a damaged charger. Most are repairable without touching the chip itself.
About this model: The M4 MacBook Pro (late 2024) added Thunderbolt 5 on Pro and Max models, a 12MP Center Stage camera and an optional nano-texture display. Most are now out of Apple’s standard one-year warranty, so accidental damage and wear are the main reasons they come to us.
Signs it needs logic board repair
- No power or no charging
- MagSafe light but won’t start
- Liquid corrosion
- Short on a power rail
How we do it
Our logic board work is component-level. We inspect the board under a microscope, measure the power rails, use thermal imaging to find shorts, and work from the board schematics to identify the exact failed component. We then replace that component by micro-soldering rather than swapping the whole board.

Before you bring it in
If it partly works (for example charges but won’t start), note exactly what happens and how long it’s been like that. Remember that a replacement board would mean losing the data on this model.
Which model do you have?
This page covers the MacBook Pro 14 & 16-inch M4 family (2024) (MacBook Pro (14-inch, M4, 2024), MacBook Pro (14/16-inch, M4 Pro or M4 Max, 2024)). The A-number is printed in tiny text on the base, near the hinge. You’ll also find the model in Apple menu > About This Mac. Not sure? Bring it in and we’ll identify it for you.
Price
Logic board repair for this model is £450 + VAT. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.
Questions we’re often asked
Why not just replace the whole board?
A new or refurbished board usually costs far more than a component repair, and on this model it would also mean losing the data stored on the original board.
Do I pay if you can’t fix it?
Not for the repair. If it can’t be fixed, you don’t pay for it.
