The MacBook Neo is Apple’s low-cost laptop, launched in 2026 with the A18 Pro chip from the iPhone 16 Pro. It’s the most repairable MacBook in years: the battery is held by screws rather than glue, the keyboard can be replaced on its own, and the USB-C ports sit on separate small boards. Memory and storage are still soldered. Because it’s new and aimed at students, accidental damage is the main reason we see them.
The Neo has 8GB of memory and uses an iPhone-class chip, so it’s best suited to everyday tasks. It has no MagSafe port and no keyboard backlight, and Touch ID is only on the higher model, so these aren’t faults if yours lacks them.

We give you a fixed quote after a free initial assessment, before any work starts. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.
Questions we’re often asked
My Mac might still be under warranty. Should I come to you?
If the fault is a manufacturing defect and your Mac is within Apple’s warranty or AppleCare+, Apple is usually the cheapest route and we’ll tell you so. Accidental damage, spills and anything outside cover is where we can help, often faster.
Can you repair it the same day?
Many repairs are done on the same day when parts are in stock. Board-level work and data recovery usually take a few working days, and we’ll give you a realistic time when we quote.
Can I add more memory while it’s in?
No. On this model the memory is part of the chip package, so the amount it shipped with is what it keeps. If you’re short of memory, that’s worth knowing before spending on other repairs.
