Mac Repair London carries out logic board repair on the MacBook Pro M5, M5 Pro & M5 Max from our London workshop, for home users and businesses.
On the M5 MacBook Pro, the processor, unified memory and SSD all live on one logic board. A board fault stops the Mac and locks your files inside, because the storage is encrypted by the chip. Repairing the original board is the way to get both back.
We repair accidental board damage from spills, drops and charger faults, which Apple’s standard warranty doesn’t cover, and we’ll tell you when Apple or AppleCare+ is the better route.
About this model: The M5 MacBook Pro arrived in two stages: the 14-inch M5 in October 2025 and the M5 Pro and M5 Max models in March 2026. These are Apple’s current pro laptops and most are still in warranty.
Signs it needs logic board repair
- No power after a spill or drop
- Not charging
- Liquid corrosion
- Short on a power rail
How we do it
Our logic board work is component-level. We inspect the board under a microscope, measure the power rails, use thermal imaging to find shorts, and work from the board schematics to identify the exact failed component. We then replace that component by micro-soldering rather than swapping the whole board.

Before you bring it in
If it partly works (for example charges but won’t start), note exactly what happens and how long it’s been like that. Remember that a replacement board would mean losing the data on this model.
Which model do you have?
This page covers the MacBook Pro 14 & 16-inch M5 family (2025–2026) (MacBook Pro (14-inch, M5, 2025), MacBook Pro (14/16-inch, M5 Pro or M5 Max, 2026)). Look under Apple menu > About This Mac, or check the small print on the bottom case for the A-number. Not sure? Bring it in and we’ll identify it for you.
Price
Logic board repair for this model is £450 + VAT. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.
Questions we’re often asked
Why not just replace the whole board?
A new or refurbished board usually costs far more than a component repair, and on this model it would also mean losing the data stored on the original board.
Do I pay if you can’t fix it?
Not for the repair. If it can’t be fixed, you don’t pay for it.
