15-inch Touch Bar boards fail from heat, liquid and power-circuit faults. We repair at component level and, where the Radeon Pro GPU is at fault, advise on what’s realistic. Board repair is also how we get your encrypted data back on T2 models.
The 15-inch uses separate power circuits for the CPU and discrete GPU. Faults in the GPU circuit can look like a total failure, but they’re often repairable.
About this model: The 15-inch Touch Bar MacBook Pro (A1707 and A1990) packs a quad or six-core Intel CPU and Radeon Pro graphics into a thin body, which means heat. Add the butterfly keyboard and wearing display cables, and you have the main repair themes.

How we do it
We don’t swap boards by default. Your board is examined under the microscope, its power rails measured against the schematic, and shorts located with a thermal camera. The failed part is then replaced by micro-soldering.

If it partly works (for example charges but won’t start), note exactly what happens and how long it’s been like that. Remember that a replacement board would mean losing the data on this model.

Price
Non-complex board repairs from £165 + VAT; complex repairs (liquid, lightning or GPU faults) from £285 + VAT. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.
Questions we’re often asked
Why not just replace the whole board?
A new or refurbished board usually costs far more than a component repair, and on this model it would also mean losing the data stored on the original board.
Do I pay if you can’t fix it?
No. If the repair isn’t possible, you don’t pay for it, and the free initial assessment costs nothing.
