The redesigned 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro (A2442, A2485, A2779, A2780) brought back MagSafe, HDMI and the SD card slot, and introduced the mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display. They’re powerful and generally reliable. The costliest repair is the mini-LED display, and we also see board faults from liquid and charging problems.
These models brought back HDMI, the SD card slot and MagSafe, so the range of port problems is wider than on USB-C-only MacBooks. The notch display and 120Hz ProMotion also arrived with this design.

Price
We give you a fixed quote after a free initial assessment, before any work starts. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.
Questions we’re often asked
Can you repair it the same day?
Many repairs are done on the same day when parts are in stock. Board-level work and data recovery usually take a few working days, and we’ll give you a realistic time when we quote.
Can I add more memory while it’s in?
No. On this model the memory is part of the chip package, so the amount it shipped with is what it keeps. If you’re short of memory, that’s worth knowing before spending on other repairs.
Is there a warranty?
Yes, our repairs come with a warranty on the work and parts. Ask us for the terms that apply to your repair.
