Mac Repair London carries out logic board repair on the MacBook Pro 14 & 16-inch M1/M2 Pro & Max from our Central London workshop, for home users and businesses.
These boards are complex, with Pro or Max chips, lots of unified memory and fast storage. We repair power, charging and liquid-damaged circuits at component level, which is also the only way to recover data.
On the M1 Max and M2 Max, the unified memory sits inside the chip package. We don’t attempt repairs on the chip package itself; the faults we fix are in the surrounding power and charging circuitry, which is where most failures happen.
About this model: The redesigned 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro (A2442, A2485, A2779, A2780) brought back MagSafe, HDMI and the SD card slot, and introduced the mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR display. They’re powerful and generally reliable.

How we do it
Diagnosis starts with measuring each power rail and comparing it with the schematic, then thermal imaging to pinpoint shorts. Once the failed component is found, we replace it under the microscope.

Before you bring it in
If it partly works (for example charges but won’t start), note exactly what happens and how long it’s been like that. Remember that a replacement board would mean losing the data on this model.

Price
Non-complex board repairs from £165 + VAT; complex repairs (liquid, lightning or GPU faults) from £285 + VAT. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.
Questions we’re often asked
Why not just replace the whole board?
A new or refurbished board usually costs far more than a component repair, and on this model it would also mean losing the data stored on the original board.
Do I pay if you can’t fix it?
No. If the repair isn’t possible, you don’t pay for it, and the free initial assessment costs nothing.
