Common board faults on the Thunderbolt 3 13-inch include USB-C charging circuit failures, liquid damage and T2-related boot problems. We repair at component level. On T2 models the SSD is encrypted and soldered, so board repair is also the only route to your data.
On four-port models, the ports on each side are handled by separate controllers, so knowing which ports still charge helps us locate a fault quickly.
About this model: The 13-inch MacBook Pro from 2016–2020 comes in a lot of variants: with or without the Touch Bar, two or four Thunderbolt ports, and butterfly keyboards up to 2019 then the scissor Magic Keyboard in 2020. From 2018 onwards they have the T2 security chip, which encrypts the soldered SSD.

How we do it
Our logic board work is component-level. We inspect the board under a microscope, measure the power rails, use thermal imaging to find shorts, and work from the board schematics to identify the exact failed component. We then replace that component by micro-soldering rather than swapping the whole board.

Non-complex board repairs from £165 + VAT; complex repairs (liquid, lightning or GPU faults) from £285 + VAT. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.
