Mac Repair London carries out a battery replacement on the MacBook Air 13-inch M2 & M3 from our Central London workshop, for home users and businesses.
M2 and M3 Air batteries use stretch-release pull tabs, which make replacement cleaner than older glued designs. We fit a new battery and check the charging via both MagSafe and USB-C.
The M2 and M3 13-inch Air batteries have stretch-release adhesive tabs, a real improvement for repairers. It means less solvent, less heat and much lower risk of damaging nearby parts.
About this model: The M2 and M3 MacBook Air 13-inch (A2681 and A3113) share the flat-edged design with MagSafe 3 charging and a notch in the display. They are fanless and very reliable, so most repairs are accidental: screens, spills and drops.

How we do it
Before quoting, we check the battery’s cycle count and condition, and test the charger and charging port, because a charging fault can look exactly like a dead battery.
The battery here is held with adhesive. We release it with the correct solvent or pull-tabs instead of prying, which is how batteries get punctured and nearby cables get torn.
Once it’s in, we run a charge and discharge check, confirm macOS reports the battery as normal, and send the old one for recycling.

Before you bring it in
Check System Information (or System Settings > Battery on newer macOS) for the cycle count and condition, and jot them down. If the case is bulging, stop charging it and bring it in straight away.

Questions we’re often asked
How long will the new battery last?
A new battery should give you close to the run time it had when new, and typically lasts several years with normal use. Keeping it away from long periods at 100% charge and high heat helps it age more slowly.
What parts do you use?
Genuine Apple parts. We test each one after fitting so you know the repair is right before you collect it.
Do you need to erase my Mac?
No. Your files stay where they are. We only need your password if you’d like us to test macOS after the repair, and we’ll ask before we log in.
