MacBook Air Data Recovery in London

MacBook Air ready for data recovery

MacBook Airs get dropped, spilled on and carried everywhere, so we see a lot of them needing data recovery. How we get your files back depends on the year of your Air.

How it works on your MacBook Air

2010–2017: the SSD is a removable blade. If the Air itself has failed, we fit the blade into a compatible adapter and copy it. If the SSD’s own controller has failed, it becomes an advanced recovery.

2018–2020 (T2): the storage is soldered and encrypted by the T2 chip. Recovery means repairing the logic board first.

M1 onwards: the same, with the encryption built into the Apple silicon chip. Board-level repair is the only route to the data.

Questions we’re often asked

Can’t you just take the SSD out of my M1 Air?

No. It’s part of the logic board and encrypted by the M1 chip, so it can only be read by that same board once it works again.
