MacBook Air 13-inch M2 & M3 (2022–2024) Data Recovery

Apple MacBook Air

If your MacBook Air 13-inch M2 & M3 needs data recovery, our London technicians can help, usually with a quote on the same day you bring it in.

The storage is soldered and hardware-encrypted by the chip. Recovery means repairing the original board so the Mac can start, then copying your data. We do that work in-house.

Because the M2 and M3 Air can be restored from a Time Machine drive in a few minutes, we always ask whether you have one. If you do, repairing the board may not be necessary just to get your data.

About this model: The M2 and M3 MacBook Air 13-inch (A2681 and A3113) share the flat-edged design with MagSafe 3 charging and a notch in the display. They are fanless and very reliable, so most repairs are accidental: screens, spills and drops.

Signs it needs data recovery

  • Dead MacBook Air
  • Liquid damage
  • Boot loop
  • Board failure

How we do it

We start by finding out why the Mac won’t start, which is often a power fault rather than failed storage. Once it boots, we copy your data before doing anything else.

Typical recoveries include Photos libraries, Mail archives, music collections, business documents and creative projects from Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro or Adobe apps.

Questions we’re often asked

Can you take the drive out and read it in another computer?

Not on this model. The storage is encrypted with keys held by the Mac’s own security hardware, so it can only be read through the original board. That’s why we repair the board rather than replace it.

Do I pay if you can’t fix it?

No. If the repair isn’t possible, you don’t pay for it, and the free initial assessment costs nothing.
