MacBook Pro 14 & 16-inch M5 family (2025–2026) Liquid Damage Repair

Apple MacBook Pro

If your MacBook Pro M5, M5 Pro & M5 Max needs liquid damage repair, our London technicians can help. Switch it off, don’t charge it, and bring it in as soon as you can.

A spill on an M5 MacBook Pro reaches the logic board through the keyboard. Corrosion starts straight away and keeps spreading while there’s power on the board, so the sooner it’s cleaned the better. We clean the board ultrasonically, replace corroded parts and test everything before it goes back.

Liquid damage isn’t covered by Apple’s standard warranty, so this is one of the most common reasons we see new MacBook Pros. Your data stays on the original board, which is why we repair it rather than replace it.

About this model: The M5 MacBook Pro arrived in two stages: the 14-inch M5 in October 2025 and the M5 Pro and M5 Max models in March 2026. These are Apple’s current pro laptops and most are still in warranty.

Signs it needs liquid damage repair

  • Won’t power on
  • Keys not working
  • Trackpad unresponsive
  • Not charging

How we do it

If you’ve just spilled something: switch the Mac off, unplug it, don’t try to turn it on or charge it to ‘check’, and don’t put it in rice. Corrosion keeps spreading while there’s power on the board.

Once it’s apart, the board is cleaned ultrasonically, dried, and inspected under the microscope. Corroded components are replaced, and then we check the battery, keyboard, trackpad and ports individually.

On this model the keyboard is riveted into the top case, so if it’s damaged we’ll quote for the top case as a separate item so you can decide.

At a glance

Before you bring it in

Keep it switched off and unplugged, open the lid into an upside-down V to drain it, and bring it in as quickly as you can. Tell us what was spilled: sugary and salty drinks corrode faster than water.

Price

Liquid damage repair to the logic board is £450 + VAT on this model. If other parts were damaged too, we quote for them separately. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.

Questions we’re often asked

Should I put it in rice?

No. Rice doesn’t remove the minerals and sugar left behind, and meanwhile corrosion carries on. Switch it off and bring it to us as soon as you can.

Will my data be safe?

Yes. We don’t wipe your Mac unless you ask. On this model the storage is tied to its original board, so we never swap the board without explaining what that would mean for your data.

Do I pay if you can’t fix it?

Not for the repair. If it can’t be fixed, you don’t pay for it.
