iMac 27-inch & Retina 5K (2012–2020) Repair

Apple iMac

Mac Repair London offers repairs for the iMac 27-inch (2012–2020) in Central London, from simple part swaps to component-level logic board work.

The 27-inch iMac (A1419 and A2115) includes the Retina 5K models, and the 2020 model is the last Intel iMac. It has a RAM door at the back with four slots, so memory upgrades are easy. The display is glued, and many were sold with hard drives or Fusion Drives. We see graphics faults, display damage and drive failures most often.

Back up your files if it still starts, bring the charger or power cable, and write down what happened just before the fault appeared. The more detail you give, the quicker the diagnosis.

Which model do you have?

This page covers the iMac 27-inch & Retina 5K (2012–2020) (iMac13,2 to iMac20,2; A1419, A2115). About This Mac in the Apple menu shows the model and year; the A-number is printed on the underside of the stand. Not sure? Bring it in and we’ll identify it for you.

Price

We give you a fixed quote after a free initial assessment, before any work starts. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.

Questions we’re often asked

Can you repair it the same day?

Many repairs are done on the same day when parts are in stock. Board-level work and data recovery usually take a few working days, and we’ll give you a realistic time when we quote.

Can you upgrade the memory at the same time?

Usually, yes. This model uses socketed memory, and doing it while the Mac is already open saves you labour.

Do I pay if you can’t fix it?

No. If the repair isn’t possible, you don’t pay for it, and the free initial assessment costs nothing.
