If your iMac 27-inch (2012–2020) needs a RAM upgrade, our London technicians can help, usually with a quote on the same day you bring it in.
The 27-inch has four SO-DIMM slots behind a door on the back, so this is quick. Most models run 32GB; later models support more. We supply and fit matched, tested modules.
About this model: The 27-inch iMac (A1419 and A2115) includes the Retina 5K models, and the 2020 model is the last Intel iMac. It has a RAM door at the back with four slots, so memory upgrades are easy.
Signs it needs a RAM upgrade
- Memory pressure
- Slow with large photo libraries
- Faulty module
- Only some memory recognised
How we do it
We read your exact model identifier first, because Mac memory is fussy about speed and type, and the wrong module can cause beeps at start-up or random crashes. We fit matched pairs where the model benefits from dual-channel memory.
After fitting we run an extended memory test and check that the full amount shows in System Information, so there are no surprises later.

Before you bring it in
Note the apps you use most. That tells us whether a memory upgrade on its own will help, or whether pairing it with an SSD would be better value.

Questions we’re often asked
Will I lose my files?
No. We clone or back up your data before any upgrade and check everything is in place afterwards.
Is it worth upgrading this model?
For most owners it is. An upgrade costs a fraction of a new Mac, and we’ll say plainly if your particular machine has other faults that make it a poor investment.
How much does it cost?
See the price section above. We always quote before starting, and if we can’t fix it, you don’t pay for the repair.
