iMac 27-inch & Retina 5K (2012–2020) Screen Replacement

Apple iMac

If your iMac 27-inch (2012–2020) needs a screen replacement, our London technicians can help, usually with a quote on the same day you bring it in.

The 27-inch and 5K displays are large, glued assemblies. We replace the full panel and re-bond it. We also check the display cable and graphics, because some faults look like a screen fault but aren’t.

About this model: The 27-inch iMac (A1419 and A2115) includes the Retina 5K models, and the 2020 model is the last Intel iMac. It has a RAM door at the back with four slots, so memory upgrades are easy.

How we do it

The display on this iMac is bonded to the chassis with adhesive. We cut it away with the proper tool, fit the new panel, clean the frame and re-bond it with new adhesive strips so it sits flush and seals out dust.

After fitting, we check for dead pixels, even backlighting, brightness control and the camera before handing it back.

Before you bring it in

If it still works on an external display, back it up first. Bring the charger, and tell us whether the damage came from a drop, pressure or a spill, as it helps us check for hidden damage.

Questions we’re often asked

What parts do you use?

We tell you before fitting whether a part is an Apple original, a tested part recovered from a donor machine, or a high-quality compatible part, and the price reflects which you choose.

Can you fit an SSD while it’s here?

Yes. This model uses a standard sata drive, and swapping to an SSD at the same time is often the best-value upgrade you can make.

How much does it cost?

See the price section above. We always quote before starting, and if we can’t fix it, you don’t pay for the repair.
