Mac Memory and SSD Upgrades in London

Mac memory and SSD upgrade parts

More memory and a solid-state drive are the two upgrades that make an older Mac feel new again. Whether your Mac can take them depends on the model, so we always check yours before quoting.

We fit tested, matched modules, move your files across and run an extended test before handing the Mac back.

Which Macs can be upgraded

Memory can be upgraded on: the white and black MacBook (2006–2010), MacBook Pro models up to 2012, most iMacs up to 2019 (the 27-inch has a memory door on the back), the Mac mini (2010–2012 and 2018) and every Mac Pro up to 2019.

Memory is fixed on: every MacBook Air, MacBook Pro Retina models from 2012 onwards, the 12-inch MacBook and all Apple silicon Macs. On these, an SSD upgrade or a clean-up is often the better option.

Questions we’re often asked

How much memory do I need?

For email, browsing and office work, 8GB is enough on most older Macs; for photo editing, virtual machines or many browser tabs, 16GB makes a real difference where the model supports it.

Is an SSD or more memory the better upgrade?

If your Mac still has a spinning hard drive, the SSD almost always makes the bigger difference. We’ll recommend one or both based on how you use it.
