MacBook Pro 13-inch Retina (2012–2015) Data Recovery

Apple MacBook Pro

Need data recovery for your MacBook Pro 13-inch Retina? We carry out this work in-house at our London workshop, with a fixed quote before we start.

The removable SSD blade in these models isn’t hardware-encrypted, so if the Mac is dead we can often read the drive in an adapter. If the SSD itself has failed, we perform an advanced recovery. FileVault volumes can be recovered with your password.

About this model: The 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro (A1425 and A1502) is still a strong everyday machine, particularly the 2015 model. Memory is soldered and the battery is glued, but the SSD is a removable blade, so storage can still be upgraded.

Signs it needs data recovery

  • Mac dead
  • SSD not seen
  • Folder with question mark
  • Deleted files

How we do it

The SSD blade in this model can be removed and read in a compatible adapter on our recovery system, so a dead logic board doesn’t usually mean lost data.

Whether it’s family photos, accounts, a thesis or a year of client projects, we list what we’ve recovered so you can check it before it’s copied to your new drive.

At a glance

Before you bring it in

Stop using the Mac if a drive is clicking or it keeps restarting, as each attempt can make recovery harder. Make a list of the folders that matter most so we can prioritise them, and have your FileVault password ready if you used it.

Questions we’re often asked

Will you need my password?

Only if FileVault encryption was switched on. Without it, we can read the drive directly. With it, we need your login password or recovery key.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, our repairs come with a warranty on the work and parts. Ask us for the terms that apply to your repair.
