Mac Repair London carries out logic board repair on the Mac Pro (2019 & 2023) from our London workshop, for home users and businesses.
The 2019 Intel Mac Pro and the 2023 M2 Ultra Mac Pro share a tower chassis and a 1.4kW power supply, and both use SSD modules tied to the security chip. If the board fails, repairing it is the way to keep the data on those modules.
Because the power supply and the PCIe or MPX cards are separate parts, we test them first. Many no-power and boot faults turn out to be one of those, which is a simpler fix than board work.
About this model: The 2019 Mac Pro (Intel Xeon, T2 chip, MPX graphics modules, twelve DIMM slots) and the 2023 Mac Pro (M2 Ultra, with memory built into the chip) share the same tower chassis and 1.4kW power supply. Both use SSD modules tied to the security chip.
Signs it needs logic board repair
- No power
- Boot failures
- PCIe or MPX card not detected
- Dead after a power cut or surge
How we do it
Our logic board work is component-level. We inspect the board under a microscope, measure the power rails, use thermal imaging to find shorts, and work from the board schematics to identify the exact failed component. We then replace that component by micro-soldering rather than swapping the whole board.
At a glance
| Years | 2019–2023 |
|---|---|
| Processor | Intel Xeon W (2019) or Apple M2 Ultra (2023) |
| Storage | Removable flash module tied to the security chip |
| Memory | Socketed, upgradeable (2019); built into the chip (2023) |
| Power / charging | 1.4kW internal power supply |
Before you bring it in
Bring the power cable. Note whether you see any lights, hear the fans or get a start-up chime, and whether there was a power cut or surge before it stopped working. Remember that a replacement board would mean losing the data on this model.
Which model do you have?
This page covers the Mac Pro tower (2019 Intel & 2023 M2 Ultra) (MacPro7,1 (A1991) and Mac Pro (2023, M2 Ultra)). Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. The model details are also printed on the underside. Not sure? Bring it in and we’ll identify it for you.
Price
Logic board repair for this model is £450 + VAT. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.
Questions we’re often asked
Why not just replace the whole board?
A new or refurbished board usually costs far more than a component repair, and on this model it would also mean losing the data stored on the original board.
Do I pay if you can’t fix it?
Not for the repair. If it can’t be fixed, you don’t pay for it.
