Mac Repair London carries out logic board repair on the iMac Pro from our London workshop, for home users and businesses.
The iMac Pro packs a Xeon processor, Radeon Pro Vega graphics and the T2 chip into an iMac body, and heat is what wears its board out. The SSD modules are paired with the T2, so the data can only be read on the original board.
We see graphics faults, T2 start-up problems and power faults. We test the internal power supply first, since it’s a separate part, then repair the board at component level. Reaching the board means removing the bonded display, and we allow for that when we quote.
About this model: The iMac Pro (A1862) is a Xeon workstation in a space grey iMac body, with Radeon Pro Vega graphics and the T2 chip. It was sold until 2021 and many are still used in creative studios.
Signs it needs logic board repair
- No power
- No picture but the Mac is running
- T2 start-up problems
- Shutting down when warm
How we do it
Our logic board work is component-level. We inspect the board under a microscope, measure the power rails, use thermal imaging to find shorts, and work from the board schematics to identify the exact failed component. We then replace that component by micro-soldering rather than swapping the whole board.
At a glance
| Years | 2017–2021 |

| Power / charging | Internal mains power supply |
Before you bring it in
Bring the power cable. Note whether you see any lights, hear the fans or get a start-up chime, and whether there was a power cut or surge before it stopped working. Remember that a replacement board would mean losing the data on this model.
Which model do you have?
This page covers the iMac Pro 27-inch (2017) (iMacPro1,1; A1862). Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. The model number is also printed under the stand or on the base. Not sure? Bring it in and we’ll identify it for you.
Price
The iMac Pro is a 2017 model, so non-complex board repairs are from £165 + VAT, and complex repairs (liquid, lightning or GPU faults) are £450 + VAT. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.
Questions we’re often asked
Why not just replace the whole board?
A new or refurbished board usually costs far more than a component repair, and on this model it would also mean losing the data stored on the original board.
Do I pay if you can’t fix it?
Not for the repair. If it can’t be fixed, you don’t pay for it.
