Mac Repair London offers repairs for the MacBook Air Retina (2018–2020, Intel) in Central London, from simple part swaps to component-level logic board work.
The Retina MacBook Air from 2018–2020 (A1932 and A2179) has the T2 chip, soldered storage and memory, and a battery glued in place. The 2018–2019 A1932 has the butterfly keyboard; the 2020 A2179 has the more reliable scissor keyboard. Some 2018 units had a logic board power fault that Apple once ran a service programme for. The Intel chip runs warm in this fanned but thin chassis.
The A2179 from 2020 is the last Intel MacBook Air, and it’s the more reliable of the two because of its scissor keyboard. The A1932 has the Touch ID button but no Touch Bar.

Before you bring it in
Back up your files if it still starts, bring the charger or power cable, and write down what happened just before the fault appeared. The more detail you give, the quicker the diagnosis.
Which model do you have?
This page covers the MacBook Air Retina 13-inch (2018–2020, Intel) (MacBookAir8,1 / 8,2 / 9,1; A1932, A2179). The A-number is printed in tiny text on the base, near the hinge. You’ll also find the model in Apple menu > About This Mac. Not sure? Bring it in and we’ll identify it for you.
Price
We give you a fixed quote after a free initial assessment, before any work starts. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.
Questions we’re often asked
Can you repair it the same day?
Many repairs are done on the same day when parts are in stock. Board-level work and data recovery usually take a few working days, and we’ll give you a realistic time when we quote.
Will my data be safe?
Yes. We don’t wipe your Mac unless you ask. On this model the storage is encrypted and tied to its original board, so we never swap the board without explaining what that would mean for your data.
Do I pay if you can’t fix it?
No. If the repair isn’t possible, you don’t pay for it, and the free initial assessment costs nothing.
