If your MacBook Air 13-inch needs data recovery, our London technicians can help, usually with a quote on the same day you bring it in.
The SSD in the 13-inch Air is a removable blade without hardware encryption, so if the logic board has failed we can often read your data directly. Failed SSD controllers need specialist recovery. FileVault-encrypted drives are recoverable with your password or recovery key.
About this model: The 13-inch MacBook Air (A1369 and A1466) ran for seven years with the same wedge design, and the 2017 model was sold until 2019, so there are a lot of them. Memory is soldered, but the SSD is a removable blade, the battery is screwed in, and the keyboard can be replaced separately from the top case.
Signs it needs data recovery
- Mac dead
- SSD not mounting
- Liquid damage
- Accidentally erased
How we do it
The SSD blade in this model can be removed and read in a compatible adapter on our recovery system, so a dead logic board doesn’t usually mean lost data.
Typical recoveries include Photos libraries, Mail archives, music collections, business documents and creative projects from Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro or Adobe apps.

Before you bring it in
Check iCloud, Time Machine and any external drives first: you may have more backed up than you think. Then bring the Mac in with a short list of the files you need most.

Questions we’re often asked
Will you need my password?
Only if FileVault encryption was switched on. Without it, we can read the drive directly. With it, we need your login password or recovery key.
Do I pay if you can’t fix it?
No. If the repair isn’t possible, you don’t pay for it, and the free initial assessment costs nothing.
