MacBook Air 11-inch (2010–2015) Data Recovery

Apple MacBook Air

Mac Repair London carries out data recovery on the MacBook Air 11-inch from our Central London workshop, for home users and businesses.

The 11-inch Air stores data on a removable SSD blade without hardware encryption, so if the Mac itself has failed, we can read the blade in a compatible adapter. If the SSD controller has failed we treat it as an advanced recovery. FileVault volumes can be recovered with your password or recovery key.

About this model: The 11-inch MacBook Air is small, light and still popular as a travel or school machine. Its memory is soldered, but its SSD is a removable blade and its battery is screwed in rather than glued, so the most useful repairs remain very affordable.

Signs it needs data recovery

  • Mac won’t start
  • SSD not detected
  • Liquid damage
  • Accidental erasure

How we do it

The SSD blade in this model can be removed and read in a compatible adapter on our recovery system, so a dead logic board doesn’t usually mean lost data.

We recover documents, photos, video, Mail, Photos and iTunes/Music libraries, and project files from apps like Final Cut Pro, Logic and Adobe Creative Cloud.

Before you bring it in

Don’t run disk repair tools or reinstall macOS, as both can overwrite what we’re trying to save. Note which files matter most and whether FileVault was switched on.

Questions we’re often asked

Will you need my password?

Only if FileVault encryption was switched on. Without it, we can read the drive directly. With it, we need your login password or recovery key.

How much does it cost?

See the price section above. We always quote before starting, and if we can’t fix it, you don’t pay for the repair.
