MacBook Air M4 (13 & 15-inch, 2025) Liquid Damage Repair

Apple MacBook Air

If your MacBook Air M4 needs liquid damage repair, our London technicians can help, usually with a quote on the same day you bring it in.

Liquid damage isn’t covered by Apple’s standard warranty, so this is one of the most common reasons newer Airs come to us. Switch off and bring it in straight away. We clean and repair the board and replace damaged parts.

The M4 Air’s board layout is close to the M3’s, so we know where liquid tends to collect and which components usually need attention first.

About this model: The M4 MacBook Air (2025) keeps the flat-edged design but adds 16GB memory as standard, a 12MP Center Stage camera and a sky blue finish. It’s young enough that many are still under Apple’s warranty or AppleCare+, and we’ll tell you if yours is.

Signs it needs liquid damage repair

  • Won’t turn on
  • Keys not working
  • Trackpad erratic
  • Charging problems

How we do it

If the MacBook Air M4 is still running after a spill, shut it down straight away and unplug it. Most of the damage we see comes from the machine being switched back on while still wet.

Our process is a full teardown, an ultrasonic clean of the logic board, then repair of any parts the liquid has corroded. Each connected part, from keyboard to battery, gets its own test before reassembly.

On this model the keyboard is part of the top case, so if it’s damaged we’ll quote for the top case as a separate item so you can decide.

Before you bring it in

Keep it switched off and unplugged, open the lid into an upside-down V to drain it (for laptops), and bring it in as quickly as you can. Tell us what was spilled: sugary and salty drinks corrode faster than water.

From £165 + VAT for non-complex board repairs. Complex repairs (liquid, lightning or GPU faults) from £285 + VAT. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.

Questions we’re often asked

My Mac might still be under warranty. Should I come to you?

If the fault is a manufacturing defect and your Mac is within Apple’s warranty or AppleCare+, Apple is usually the cheapest route and we’ll tell you so. Accidental damage, spills and anything outside cover is where we can help, often faster.

Does it matter what was spilled?

Yes. Water is the least harmful; tea with sugar, coffee, juice, wine and beer leave sticky, conductive residue that corrodes faster.

Does the battery need replacing too?

Not always. On this model the battery is held with adhesive in the top case, so we test it first and only quote for it if it’s worn or damaged.
