Mac Repair London carries out logic board repair on the Mac Studio from our London workshop, for home users and businesses.
Every Mac Studio has its processor and memory on the logic board, with SSD modules that are paired to the chip. Those modules can’t simply be read in another Mac, so when the board fails, repairing it is how you keep your data.
The Mac Studio draws air in through its base, so dust build-up and heat are common, as are faults after power surges. We test the internal power supply first, then repair the board at component level.
About this model: The Mac Studio has gone through four generations, from M1 Max/Ultra in 2022 to the M5 Max and M5 Ultra models released in September 2026. It has an internal power supply, removable SSD modules paired to the chip, and draws air in through the base, so dust is a common problem.
Signs it needs logic board repair
- No power
- Dead after a power cut or surge
- Overheating or shutting down
- Won’t start up
How we do it
Our logic board work is component-level. We inspect the board under a microscope, measure the power rails, use thermal imaging to find shorts, and work from the board schematics to identify the exact failed component. We then replace that component by micro-soldering rather than swapping the whole board.
At a glance
| Years | 2022–2026 |
|---|---|
| Processor | Apple M1 Max/Ultra up to M5 Max/Ultra |
| Storage | Removable flash module tied to the security chip |
| Memory | Unified memory inside the chip package (not upgradeable) |
| Power / charging | Internal mains power supply |
Before you bring it in
Bring the power cable. Note whether you see any lights, hear the fans or get a start-up chime, and whether there was a power cut or surge before it stopped working. Remember that a replacement board would mean losing the data on this model.

Price
Logic board repair for this model is £450 + VAT. The initial assessment and advice are free, as long as we don't need to open your Mac. If a technician needs to open it and spend time diagnosing the fault, or you need a report for an insurance claim, it is booked in as a diagnostic at £45 + VAT (£54). All prices are subject to inspection, and nothing is done without your approval.
Questions we’re often asked
Why not just replace the whole board?
A new or refurbished board usually costs far more than a component repair, and on this model it would also mean losing the data stored on the original board.
Do I pay if you can’t fix it?
Not for the repair. If it can’t be fixed, you don’t pay for it.
