Mac Studio M1, M2, M3/M4 & M5 (2022–2026) Data Recovery

Apple Mac Pro

Mac Repair London carries out data recovery on the Mac Studio from our Central London workshop, for home users and businesses.

Mac Studio SSD modules are paired with the chip and encrypted, so they can’t be read in another Mac. When a Mac Studio fails, recovery means repairing the power supply or board first. We do that in-house, then copy your projects off.

The Mac Studio is often used for large video and audio projects, sometimes with external RAID arrays. Bring any external drives too, as they may already hold copies.

About this model: The Mac Studio has gone through four generations, from M1 Max/Ultra in 2022 to the M5 Max and M5 Ultra models released in September 2026. It has an internal power supply, removable SSD modules paired to the chip, and draws air in through the base, so dust is a common problem.

Signs it needs data recovery

  • Mac Studio won’t start
  • Power surge
  • Failed update
  • Accidental deletion

How we do it

Because the encryption keys live in the Mac’s own security hardware, a standalone copy of the storage would be unreadable. We restore the original board to working order, unlock the volume and transfer your files.

We recover documents, photos, video, Mail, Photos and iTunes/Music libraries, and project files from apps like Final Cut Pro, Logic and Adobe Creative Cloud.

Before you bring it in

Don’t run disk repair tools or reinstall macOS, as both can overwrite what we’re trying to save. Note which files matter most and bring your login password, which the encrypted storage needs.

Questions we’re often asked

My Mac might still be under warranty. Should I come to you?

If the fault is a manufacturing defect and your Mac is within Apple’s warranty or AppleCare+, Apple is usually the cheapest route and we’ll tell you so. Accidental damage, spills and anything outside cover is where we can help, often faster.

Can you take the drive out and read it in another computer?

Not on this model. The storage is encrypted with keys held by the Mac’s own security hardware, so it can only be read through the original board. That’s why we repair the board rather than replace it.
